More Castle Problems

So seems I've yet again been having issues with my Castle MMP. With both new firmware versions 1.27 and 1.28 I see glitching on my truck. I've taken a video so you can see what exactly it's doing.

I've found reverting back to 1.26 removes the glitching. With nearly weekly updates to their software I think I'll be more skeptical on applying any new firmware updates from here on out.

Chris I had the same issues as you when I tried to update the software, I also had to revert back. I use these settings with a Spektrum voltage protector and I have not has any issue since. But just to be safe last week I installed a castle BEC so I can run the 3.5 SP which still cogged. With the Ballistic 4.5 it's a non-issue.

bec 6 volt
arming time 1sec
dead band small .05ms
start power low
timing 10*
smart sense
cutoff 6volts
reverse lockout
brakes 75%
drag brake 0
punch control 0
reverse throttle 50%

Before the editing of my settings

With a Tekin RS Pro (had heat issues 2 weeks after I got it installed)

And my current setup (this was before the castle BEC but with the settings above using a voltage protector on the default software).

All the guys on the team use the same setup, MMP and either a SP 4.5 or Novak 4.5 (none of us had BEC's)

Unless I'm mistaken, these updates are advertised as 'beta' versions and as such they are trial versions, or 'use at your own risk' type updates. Probs with this latest are well known and public - see Castle's thread on RC Monster.

They've been pretty reliable in the past, but that's no guarantee they're trouble free. Castle knows there's probs and they've said they're working on them and hope to release a better version in a week or so. At least they've made rollbacks easy.

I always check Castle's thread on RC monster to see if a new FW update is having prpobs before dnloading. I'd rather wait til the bugs get sorted out.

I completely understand the Beta versioning and there being a potential for bugs. I wasn't trying to bash Castle for that, but reading my post you can see my frustration I guess which could be perceived that way. My main point in the post was to inform others that the issue exists.

Also, I'm not sure where you're seeing this as being communicated as a known issue. I may just be missing it on their site unless it's on a forum sommewhere else? If you know of the location, please share. EDIT: I followed the link you posted and see there was a response from them. Would be nice to have a link from their FAQ. I'll keep a watch there for any updates thanks.

The other lead in to my frustration here is the requirement for the external BEC. I too needed this with the Ballistic motor and my Servo. Maybe it's my hobbyshop I should be directing this to if they are truly known issues and they didn't inform me I'd need to buy additional parts for it to work.

Disclaimer - I'm new to the sport so maybe my assumption for these things to work as they claim is misguided.

I think you have every right to be frustrated, you purchased a product and expected it to work and it doesn't preform without needed additional parts. Not sure why I got mine to work without the external BEC but it does. I did have one go up in smoke a few weeks ago while out at A52 and dropped my spare in and added the BEC to be safe.

You can hunt down the Mamba Max Pro thread in the main off-road forum, you my friend are not the only one who has had issues with the BEC, cogging or software issue it's wide spread and we all have tinkered with the MMP to no end to try and find a solution. In the end we become the beta testers for Castle and IMO they know of the issue and have done really nothing to address it (at this point). MMM V1's had similar issues to the MMP and it took them awhile to get the V2's out to the public.

As much as I hate to say it, spring for the BEC and save yourself some headache.

Castle has a thread in the support forums on RC Monster. They don't advertise it as a repair service, but more a a two-way info flow on whats happening -
