2 Sided sticky tape......

The stuff I am using is for the s--ter....
What brands are you using?
Also where can I get some battery strap's 3s just don't sit all the
way down in the Slash 4wd. I only imagine that 4s are worse.

The BEST tape to use is 3M VHB. Somewhat expensive compared to other brands & types. Clean both surfaces its going to come in contact with, use methylated spirits or isopropyl alcohol, after its cured for 24 hours, nothings coming off in a collision or accident.

I use this. Holds really well. I've never had it come loose.

+1 and removal is way easier than foam servo tape. The stuff sticks!

+3 on the 3M - Scotch tapes. I’ve had excellent experience with the clear with red backing version that I believe is sold under various brand names, including Parma.

John was also on point about the single most important thing when sticking things together, make sure you have clean (and dry) surfaces. Even better, lightly wire brush the surfaces, break through any surface issues such as oxidation and such. Can’t stress that enough, bonding stuff is a big part of my day gig.

I would always recommend a good tape (or adhesive), but I’ve seen time and again where a well prepared surface with a medium quality adhesive works better than the best adhesive without proper prep.

Good day!

I just picked up this as I could not find the other brands of clear gell like tape with red backing. I think this tape is very similar to the other brands.

Yeah but why mess around with something from HK that you'll have to wait 3 weeks on? Just go to Home Depot/Lowes/etc, spend $5 and be done.

I will say that the VHB is really got some grip...so much so that it ripped the back of the ESC right off!
Thanks for the prep tip's that really made a difference...... I had to use actetone to get the tape off from the esc. I would say that it holds just fine.

Good to hear. Next thread, how to remove tape! :D

Tim Smith 07-27-2010 02:31 PM

"Goop" or "Shoe Goo"

Holds GREAT and yet peals off easy and clean

Dave H 07-27-2010 02:36 PM

Not much shock absorption though, an advantage of a good tape.

Sure, nobody is going to order a $1.50 part from HK and nothing else. A lot of people do like I do though and throw in the small things with bigger orders. Works out well. Wire, on/off switches, servo tape, connectors, etc.
