Default Mamba monster what batteries?

Hello. Since frying my mamba monster ESC (which wasnt fun). I thought I'd ask what batteries would be best. I have HPI plasma 3600mha at 30C 11.1 volts. I used to to power the ESC to get 22.2 volts. So are my batteries good enough? Were they the reason it exploded?
I live I the UK So links to better lipo batteries or ones you hav used yourself for the castle mamba monster would be grately welcome.

Cheers, tjfm.

Supposedly Castle recommends lipos that are capable of 125-150amps discharge. Yours were only good for 108amps. SInce this is a fucntion of C Rating and capacity, you need higher capacity, like 5000mah (would be 150amps) or higher C rating at that capacity - it would take 35C for 3600mah (126amps). Is this why yours burned? Don't know since I thinks its more than a single factors. Are you overgeared? How much does your RC weigh? Do you do a lot of high speed braking?

Personally, I run 5000mah 25 and 30C rated lipos in my MMM powered RCs (Flux, G2R and FLM Emaxx). I run Neuenergy lipos, but I knopw many that run HobbyKing/HobbyCity lipo in their MMMs.

Castle has to cover their own butts. With so many people frying electronics from improper use, they have to be strict about what you can or can't do to eliminate any possible failures. If you have a heavy car, geared for high speed, with a really powerful motor, and 22.2V, you will need some serious current to prevent ripple, which is what kills many MMM's.

Cheers for the soon and mint replies. I wish I could say I fried it doing some crazy speed but unfortunatly I only had it out the box when I plugged it in it went right away.
Is it better to get 2 batteries and join then up to get double the voltage or or buy a single 22.2 V lipo? Does this make any difference, and if so what ?

If you use quality wire and connectors such that there's practically no voltage drop in a series harness used to connect a pair pf lipos, there's little difference in running a pair of lipos in series versus one lipo at the higher voltage.

A pair can be better balanced on the RC and prob weighs a little more than a single lipo. As long as your charger can handle the single lipo, I don't see any significant diff between the two options.

Okay, so my Mamba Monster 2200kv will be delivered tomorrow.
Don't want to be a dead horse but I thought I'd get bashed more if I started a new thread on the same topic and not use the search function.

Anyway my question is this. I have two blue lipo batteries... one is a
25c or 30c 4000mah pack (i'm at work) and the other is a
30c 5000mah 5s pack. Am I good to go?

The 4000mah pack is too low if it really is 25C (just 100amps), I wouldn't use it with a heavy MT, something that's much lighter is prob OK, but be careful. If it is 30C - its barely adequate (120amps), make sure of whic you've got.

The 5S 30C 5000 is good - that's 150amps (30 x 5000/1000). I'd be using this one.

I stand corrected it's a turnigy and says 30-40c discharge rate 4.0 and the other is a blue lipo

I run a 4000mah 30-40c turnigy 5s, and a same rated Blue 4s in my RC8BE, with a MMM and 1800kv.. I've ran it on both batteries more than I can remember and it works fine.

Are you sure your battery or batteries polarity was correct?

I whould go with the 5000mah 4s 30c lipo on the 2200kv ive tried a 25c 4s lipo it doesnt have enough punch and causes the motor to run pretty warm and cogg.

But than again the the discharge rateings are not true really.

30c is enough but i feel that it would be better with at least 35 to 40c.
