Which charger do I get? Very confusing.

Sorry for such a new person question but I am confused on the question of which charger to get. I am looking at a used HPI Blitz with batteries nimh, called "3000." I think that means 3000mah but am not sure.

How do I know which charger to get? I wanted one with LCD and that wouldn't blow up my batteries. I also wanted it to be able to move up to LiPo batteries if I get rid of the nimh. I just don't know what to get. Thanks for any help.

after searching more I found this:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-w-LCD-Display

would this cover me for everything I need now and future?

but then I found this for very cheap:

The Onyx 230 is a good charger that will cover anything you'll see in RC. The Accucell will require the purchase of a DC power supply if you don't already own one. If you want to just be able to plug the charger into the wall, get the Onyx. I have one and it works great.

if your just dealing with lipos the "ELECTRIFLY POLY A/C D/C CHARGER" IMO is the best bang for the money and will charge 4 bats ata time, some dont like it cuzz its not a high tech item with a big name but has worked well for me, Ive seen some used for $50
however if your just dealing with simple nimas the astroflight 110D is an excellent AC/DC charger as well, you can pick one up for around $35-40

Check Out this charger it isn't one of the "big" Brands but I use it and love it. it has all the features of a "big" name charger and then some and it is like $60 shipped brand new I also know several guys at my local track that use the same charger. Plus this thing will charge pretty much any kind of battery you could think of, NIMH, LIPO, LiLo, LiFe, comes with built in power supply several battery connectors and balance tab as well as video instructions available on youtube that are very in depth. You can even hook it up to the computer and program it as well as store battery profiles so your charger will remember your batteries for essentially fool proof operation and one touch ease.

you will not find a better charger for the money.

The prob with the Onyx 230 is it has no balancing capabilties for lip (or any other type that would need balancing like LiFe batts) and you would have to buy a standalone separate balancer to balance charge lipos.

If you have any inkling that you'll run lipo down the road, get a charger that has a balancer builtin, that makes it just a matter of one additional connection versus having to connect a separate balancer to the charger and then to the lipo.

The Thunder AC-6 linked above would be hard to beat given its capabilities, cost and reputation.

I have been using a Turnigy Accucell 6 charger for about a year. No problems other than the fan is noisy.

Note be sure to consider freight and shipping time when buying from Hong Kong. Two weeks is the average delivery on items I buy from Hobby City.

BTW the Accucell 6 charger has been very popular with the RC flyers. A lot of info on the RCGROUPS forum.

What does it mean if no "Dean's connectors" are included? That was in one of the reviews. For reference, I plan on getting HPI Blitz (off Craigslist) with NiMH batteries, so I don't know what kind of connectors it will need.

A Deans connector is just a type of electrical connection. Its popular and has been around for a while - some refer to it as a T type plug. It uses 2 blades that are turned 90degrees to each other to lessen the possibility of making a reversed polarity connection - which usually has disasterous results.

Usually you match the connection you get if you're starting out. Once you have a preferred connector, then you change them as needed.

BTW, the Accucel-6 is available from HobbyCity's USA warehouse, it costs more, but then there is no long wait for int'l shipping. I got mine in 4 days.

I can't find it. Do you have a link?

Think this is the one -

http://www.electrifly.com/chargers/gpmm3015.html

Note it charges thru the balance wires and is charge rate limited.
