icharger 208b
So I have my batteries set up in parallel to charge just as progessiverc told me. I have 3s 5000mah batteries plugged into the balancing port and also the charging leads. I started to charge them at 15amps and after 22 minutes it beeped and shut down. It gave me this message
"Capacity over" I checked the volts of each battery and they were all the same 3.95 on each cell. I restarted the charging process at 10amp and it seems to be doing fine so far. Any ideas? I just got this charger and am still trying to learn this damn thing..lol Robert |
Wow, you sure got it quick!
Manual says that means 'The capacity (mAh) charged or discharged reached the configured protection limit.' You bumped into a limit of some kind thats intended for safety purposes. What do you have the capacity cut off set for? I'd guess the capacity was still set for a single lipo? |

Turn the capacity cutoff setting "off" the first time you charge them
Watch carefully and take note of how much charge they take Set the capacity cutoff slightly higher than what they actually took I have an icharger and never use the capacity cutoff setting, have never had an issue with 40 or so different packs Cheers |

Wired together in parallel as you had them, you were effectively charging a 10,000mah lipo. Thats the reason the capacity cutoff stopped the charge. I typically set mine to 115% of capacity. The only time this cutoff matters is if you get lucky and have under rated lipos as far as capacity is concerned. I've seen 5000mah rated lipos charge to more than 6000mah so it does happen. Normally, the CC/CV charge process should nearly always terminate the charge. Capacity cutoff and safety time are there for safety. If you ever charge one of your lipos and have it stop on an exact amount like 5000mah, you prob need to increase capacity cutoff the next time. You can just recharge it immediately and add what goes in the 2nd time to the mah it stopped at the 1st time and use that for capacity cutoff. Dave from Progressive posts on RC Groups and I was impressed with him helping owners and the extent of his knowledge about these chargers. You can do a lot of tech things with these chargers to track lipo and batt health. |

Let me just tell you, the customer service is through the roof with progressiverc! My icharger started having some issues yesterday so I put a call into progressive and left a voice mail. Figured they were closed for Sunday. Not even 10 minutes later he calls back and we go over everything, he is sending out a new unit today. Great service and a great guy to deal with!
