Motor/battery question???
Hey guys,
So I just bought the 10.5T Novak 3S Havoc system for my 1/10th buggy As I was going over the specs (stupid me... AFTER I bought it) and I noticed that the current rating is at 120A... pretty decent yeah? Well the problem comes in that I have a 4100Mah 24C SMC Lipo... doing a little math I found that my battery can handle just under 100A (98.4 to be exact) I know Novak has some nice programmable features so do you think between that and tweaking with my radio will ensure I stay under that 98A mark? I dont have money for another battery so i want to keep this one safe. Thoughts suggestions? Thanks!! EDIT: Heres the link... http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...xxas-Plug-105T |
Your going to get the best performance with a better pack. Plain and simple. The setup you have right now risks puffing the pack and with how expensive these cars are i would not take the risk.

I think you’re fine. I’ve ran a similar setup, GTB with a 10.5, on a 3600mAh 25C Orion (90 Amps) in a 1/10 buggy and truck with no problems. The ESC won’t automatically pull it's maximum rated Amps, rather it’s a combination of motor, ESC timing advance, gearing, etc.
To be safe just confirm the lipo is not getting more than just slightly warm, and be sure not to discharge it too far. That said, a higher discharge capable pack will provide a little more punch and of course is never a bad thing. |
10.5 on 3s in a buggy, your not going to be able to hang on to it long enough to hurt anything IMO.

Alright thanks a bunch guys, so... in general I should be fine but check for pack temp and hang on for my life.
racer1812 I was planning on putting a smaller pinion on as well so that should take SOME of the edge of  |
Is your battery a 2s-7.4V, or a 3s-11.1V? I was assuming you had a standard 2s battery, and the 3s was just the Havoc model.

I found another thread deep in the off-road E threads saying someone ran the same battery I had with the 8.5T version of the motor/ESC kit I'm getting just fine so with what you guys are saying and reading that I feel pretty safe (I'll still take precautions though) |
