digital servo or not
 

hey i just purchased my spectrum dx3s and was wondering about digital servos , i got one threw a trade and was wondering what advantages it will give me if i switch from my regular one. the digital is a[ traxxas digital 2070] and my other servo is a[ airtronics 94357], i use my car for drifting and really dont know to much about servo technology and usually dont care to much about it but now that ive upgraded remotes i wanna get the most out of what i have to work with, but if any one could help me decide witch is a better choice that would cool

Those are both digital and the Airtronics is much faster at .07 vs .16 for the Traxxas. They both are same torque at 120in-oz.

No way I'd sub a Traxxas servo for an Airtronics, that would be going the wrong direction imho. I'd leave the 94357 right where it is.

cool thanks man i was just looking threw my extra parts and came accross both of them , i currently have the one that came with my spectrum dx3e in the car but i have just got the dx3s and i wanted to have the better servo in my car thanks i didnt know the airtronics was a digital. that helps alot

The Airtronics 94357 is a sweet servo, but are you sure its a digital?

Its an older servo, and tech info is hard to find - Airtronics site is just pathetic as far as info is concerned even for current products, much less legacy products.

I was told this was digital by several guys and Google turned up a several sales on various forums (RCTech, RC Universe, RC GRoups) where it was advertised as digital. I searched some more this am and see that the 94357Z is listed as an analog servo in other places where tech data is available. If the one in question is the same as the "Z" servo, then it looks like this is really analog an not digital. My bad, sorry about any confusion.


I still wouldn't swap it for a traxxas digital cheapie thats way slower.

For current Airtronics product try taking a look at the on line catalog. Servo descriptions, gear construction, bearings/bushings, sizes, weights, speed & torque ratings at both traditional voltages, in analog and digital sections (and others), pretty much everything the other guys list seem to be there.

For older product, try the Wayback Machine, archive.org. Typical of that service, not all versions are complete. But with a little searching one can usually discover a lot of information including most of the aforementioned servo specs. I don’t believe the 357 is listed or described as a digital servo. Doesn’t mean its not a quite good servo of course.

The Z suffix simply means it has Airtronics version of the sort of standardized servo connector. As opposed to the proprietary/different connectors that many brands once used. Over time they have dropped the use of the Z on some of the newer product I believe.

I'm pretty sure the 94357 is an analog servo, plus I believe all Airtronics digital servo's actually say digital on the sticker, at least the ones I have do.

EITHER way... the 357 will blow that traxxas out of the wtaer.

I will clarify for you. While I don't know anything about the Traxxas servo, I can say with all certainty that the Airtronics 94357 is an analog servo. It is a very good servo as well and I would not hesitate to use that servo in many applications.

The Airtronics 94357 is analog. I run the 94359 in my 8ight and it is also analog. Still an excellent servo, if you are drifting it is perfect.
