Need a good affodable 2.4

Ok so i just found out that my local track it making us go to 2.4ghz. So i need to get a 2.4 radio. I currently have jr xs3. I would like something with a screen to see the menu.

So lets here what you have and your thoughts on upgrading.. I have 3 cars so the receiver price is a factor for me as well.

Futaba 3PKS. Best bang for your buck radio out there IMO.

DX3S is a decent choice. Otherwise, Futaba also makes some fantastic radios. Spektrum recievers can be had for cheap, so that would be my personal choice.

+1 the majority are on 2.4 anyway, so the few run anything else can't be that big of a problem. Glad your track has people with enough money that they can "make" them buy a new radio. Bad business move if you ask me, I spend tons of money on my stuff but I still feel for the little guys.

bang for buck , dx3s if not you can use the flysky 2.4 radio , very simple budget radio , $18 somewhere , i think it was tower....

snipe75 06-18-2010 02:27 AM

What about DX3.0 ? I'm faced with the same question

phildoggg 06-18-2010 06:42 AM

If you don't need all the fancy stuff, Airtronics is the cheapest bang for the buck. The Futaba's are nice as well, but a little more $$. I have both, and the Airtonics is simpler to navigate on the screen.

Futaba 4PL - supposed to release in Sept if you wanted to wait.

If not, Tactic could be another choice - pretty bare bones, but does have strg rate adj -

BTW, Flysky 2.4 is not available from Tower....maybe Hobbypartz?? Or Hobbycity/HobbyKing?

Well they just posted a rule that if we want to race on their new 1/8th scale track we must have 2.4 ghz radios. I guess they are not making me, but since i want to race on the track i need to change.

The problem is there is three tracks indoors, one carpet and one sc dirt track, and a rock crawler course. The new track outside is the 1/8th scale track. the owners said it will just be too hard to keep up with all the people on race day and making sure people are checking the fq board, and managing radio clips, so he want to get everyone 1/8th scale to run 2.4.

Oh well i needed to upgrade anyway, but my Jr Xs3 has been a champ. It just sucks cause i need to get all new receivers for my 3 cars...

Thanks for all the help guys. I between the Dx3s and 3pm right now.
