Futaba thermal issues

I have herd plenty of people having thermal issues with their 2.4 ghz FASST futaba receivers.

do the other receivers have the same issues. I was thinking about purchasing the Futaba R203HF FM 40MHz 3ch High Response Receiver.

I would appreciate anyone's feedback

The only people i know who have thermal issues are ones who try to run lipo rx packs with no regulators or improper servo settings. I run the 603FF on 7.4v lipo with a 6.5V 5A regulator OUTSIDE the rx box. No issues what so ever. Also a lot of people don't take the time to set up their end points as precisely as needed, which in turn generates strain and heat.
I have the 3PM-MX, it has been a perfectly flawless system. I bought it after driving my friends rig with a 3PK with a 603FS rx on the same lipo and reg. I dropped Spektrum after 6 years of use and never looked back.

There are those having trouble with thermal issues and not running lipo - Futaba addressed that issue with this - see #3 under vehicles -

From what I've read mounting the rcvr on its side, not using foam for insulation and keeping it away from heat sources eliominates thermalling fopr most. If you;'re trying to run in 110F ambient, it is a little diff prob.

how do you know when the receiver is in thermal shut down? I have been running LIFE batteries and it is very hot here in South Texas. I have been losing signal a lot over the past couple months.

I have been running life batterie with my 603fs no issues so far. 3 race days. I put heat reflector tape on the outside of the radio box and I have to say after a 5 min qual I put my finger after I took out my battierie and the receiver was nice and cool.

When it thermals the failsafe is kicking in, I run 8 rx's and don't have any problems with any of them

Does the red light come on like if it lost its bond to the TX? that has happened a couple times.

I have never had any rx problems.
