Is a futaba 3pk user friendly?!?!

Well, the 3PK FASST 2.4GHz system was a POS for me. The receivers would go into thermal shutdown in the middle of a main.
The 3PK itself is good. It has a lot of menus and options, I honestly didn't even touch most of them when I had a 3PK. Over complicated. |
First off.... i would askthis in the Radio and Electronics section.
Second off... you can limit the user level on the radio until you get better/require more options. I had one fore a short time and didnt like it. But that is me. It is a very good radio! |
I have one with the Fasst system. Have not had one thermal failure at all. Yes it can be complicated but has different levels. I use quite a bit of them, and having all the different models set in and saved so all i have to do is switch up and its good to go.

ok, so for being a newbie the futaba 3pk might be too much. right now i have spektrum dx2.0, is this radio good enough?? i really want compete into tournament andf state races. how about the dx3s, are those complicated radio?!?!
|
what is this thermal thing? How can i prevent it! I think it happend to me. I was driving and had 6 min left in the main up by 2 laps my car shut off and took off. I let it sit for like 5-10min and fliped the switch on and it was fine! (Thank goodness that was before i got my new motor). Why does that happen?

[QUOTE=rcdude236;7547686]they arent that complicated. At first you just like holly Fu**. but than you read the manuel and your look oh ok. I say get whatever remote you want! You will learn it one way or another, and people out at a rc track will be more than willing to help you.
i was also wondering is there a reset button on the 3pk. im getting it used and i dont want the same set up the previous guy had?!?! thanxs for your help |

Rcvr has an IC inside that apparently gets hot enough to trigger thermal shutdown. Futaba say prob can be cured (they don't admit there is a prob btw) if you mount the rcvr on its side rather than the bottom - that helps it cool. If its in a rcvr box, you my need to add vent holes to the box or even move it out of the box. This seem to work for some and not for others. |
