Nomadio React

I am aware that Nomadio ceased operation in the R/C market - but I always wanted to get my hands on a react and now I managed.

My questions are about battery possibility to upgrade to LiPo of LiFe model, about the compatability with other receivers what I am understanding is that it works with spektrum? do fail safe and other functions work?

Also I wish to aquire a skin for nomadio react any help maybe someone made his own.

For skins for the Nomadio, you may find that Amainhobbies or other places might have some old stock.

As for compatibility, you can use spektrum receivers like the SR3500 and Sr300 style ones. They radio just needs to be set in a special mode to use them, and you get a message about wanting to use the beta software or whatever it is when you are on that channel each time you start the radio up, no big deal.

As for battery, not sure. I remember that there was a battery with regulator being sold at one time for the nomadio that was a lipo. Maybe you can make the same thing with a lipo or life?

Thanks for the reply

Cain thanks any other feedback would be great any experiences mishaps

there is still a thread on here I think for nomadio stuff, you may want to give it a look see and see if anything you are looking for info wise is there.

The other main thing I can tell you is that the USB port for the radio can have its wires pull out from the "port" board. make sure when you go to plug it in or pull it out, keep the wires as part of your "pull" so they do not pull out from the board, if you don't, you'll have a "fun" time soldering them back in.

I still use my React and will until the wheels fall off of it. Great radio, sad it is no longer being produced. For the life of me I never understood why people where obsessed with putting LiPo's in this radio when a good 1100mah NiMi will run the thing all weekend. Thats what I use with no problems.

Cain 06-07-2010 01:44 PM

I would have kept it too but I wanted something that I coudl at least still get serviced. If Nomadio would have just kept that part open, I would have it today.

For battery, I just had cheapbatterypacks build me one with I believe 2200mah or whatever it was cells, ran for like ever. definitely a radio that was a cut above.

rc_racer1 06-08-2010 12:35 PM

I've replaced the battery pack for my react 3 times now, it eats through batteries faster than I can recharge them. it sucks that they pulled there support, and turned off the forum boards on how to modify the radio to fix certain problems.
I hope they get back into RC later in Life, there products were great.

P2gee 06-08-2010 01:09 PM

One of the most unfortunate things about the React is it was smarter than alot of the people who bought them.

Cain 06-08-2010 01:30 PM

I wonder if Nomadio would allow someone else to host the info from the boards in an archive somewhere? Having that old info could be quite useful.

edgecreations 06-09-2010 02:26 PM

Just aquired a nomadio react

I just got the react its so great - I wonder if someone stocks the sensors still for nomadio mostly tempreture and battery :) also if you know a place for receivers it would be great :)

help

Please if you know of some old stock let me know i found how to build them but i am not that sure lol

Cain 06-10-2010 06:16 AM

brand new tranceivers here:

any idea about what the sensors consist of can you build them? probably yes!! but cant find many leads about them

I agree..I use the 2700 Mah from Ballistic and I can run that thing all weekend and then some.

Great radio...I will use it untill it blows up

edgecreations 06-11-2010 02:39 PM

looks great

I agree it definelty needs better batteries what i ask is there is a method to aquire sensor leads

he battery one looks like just a positive and negative wire. you probably could do that one easy

Yes the battery one is just positive/negative. Just need an old servo plug.

P2gee 06-14-2010 07:58 PM

There was a guy on the Nomadio forum that was putting together a group buy for temp sensors. He evidenty was savvy enough with electronics to locate some suppliers to build some sensors. I was down to buy three temp sensors from him as were several others. Unfortunately, the forum website was pulled before he could get the sensors produce and everybody lost contact with him, :(. I think I have a couple of the voltage sensors and speed sensors that I dont use that I would be willing to sell for a song or trade for some new temp sensors. The on board temp sensor is just fantastic and beats the sox off of using a temp gun.

rc_racer1 06-17-2010 12:29 PM

I have a react and 2 transcievers, anybody interested in purchasing it PM me. switching to spectrum DX3S

edgecreations 06-18-2010 12:45 PM

pt1000

I am technically savvy myself and found some schematics awaiting parts to arrive and will construct the temp sensors - if they will work I will post about the tempreture sensors I made them without any issues and they work great

PT 1000 are used as tempreture sensors

HB Moose 06-27-2010 01:08 AM

Mine just blew out a capacitor on the board. Now if i could figure out what C33 was I could replace it. Since I probably can't I will be selling two receivers. E-mail me if you're interested.

Cain 06-28-2010 06:36 AM

I'd give Nomadio a call. worse thing they could say is they won't tell you. But since you are not asking for service or anything, maybe they'll help.

edgecreations 06-28-2010 12:55 PM

Nomadio

the problem is that if a capacitor blew definetly there was a voltage issue ie the regulator failed this could have happened if you were using a battery pack other than nomadio specified - the transmitter i bought gave me a 6v pack altough the transmitter works well it surely stress it out the main regulator

interesting video for all the nomadio users:

ShawnW 09-21-2010 07:37 PM

wow, the transmitter battery is big enough to last a month i bet.? seriously is that a real video. you should always mount your rec on some sort of cushion. i just use puffy tape. (can't think of the real name)

is transciever same as receiver?

Yes it is.

If anyone wants to they can run a bec with a lipo as well. I have done this for the last few years and it works great. I had to dremel some of the plastic in the battery tray, but easy job. I went a step further recently and hard wired the regulator into an empty space in the handle of the radio. No more pluggin and unplugging the bec;)

ShawnW 11-26-2010 09:52 PM

has any one had the problem with their react where the led on the transceiver blinks and the transmitter isn't controlling it. do i need a new transceiver? i would get one from a-main while they're still available as i love this radio. i just put a life batt in the transmitter and it works great but now i'm having this problem ..

ShawnW 12-05-2010 08:38 AM

bump, anyone,,,anyone. it won't rebind and the led on the trans. seems to be a code by the way it blinks, but nothing in the manual discusses this. i have anew trans on the way, hopefully that fixes my problem..

ShawnW 12-06-2010 06:41 PM

got my new transceiver today. soo far sooo good..

mingct 12-07-2010 05:55 AM

im a react user......
any other option beside original transceiver
maybe spectrum 2.4 or futaba 2.4 or sanwa 2.4 ?

ShawnW 12-07-2010 05:51 PM

i've read a couple of posts that say spektrum rec will work but latency is not as low. something about operating in low res versus high. ???

havocman 12-10-2010 06:45 AM

You can use the Spekrum DSM NOT DSM2 receivers.

havocman 12-10-2010 07:04 AM

I almost forgot...make sure you visit the Nomadio site and download their latest and final update then transfer to your radio. Did some research and found that you can use any Spektrum rx as long as it is DSM...won't work with any DSM2 rxs...latency is at about .11, Hope this helps...
