Capacitor on ESC heats up
Hi,
I'm running a Tekin FX, and once I plug in the battery, without even turning it on, the capacitor will start to heat up. I don't believe this has happened before, and the terminals are soldered to the correct polarity. Is this normal? |
No, its not. Sounds like you have the cap wired directly to the batt somehow.
|
Hmm...the cap is soldered to the battery terminals...and the wires connecting to the batt is soldered to the same posts...
Will this have the same effect? |
Yes - that solders the cap to the batt. Are you sure you have the polarity right?
Maybe solder cap to the esc? You may have toasted that cap already too. |

I ran with a cap bank soldered to my Quark125b esc the same way. It was soldered in as close to the esc as poss, right where the wires beft the board. I never noticed mine getting hot.
Maybe its only getting hot because the cap has gone bad? |

Maybe its only getting hot because the cap has gone bad? I've never noticed the cap getting hot before. I've tried touching the cap on my tekin rs after being plugged in as well, and it does not get burning hot soon after. Let me replace the cap and see how it goes. |
Radio Shack carries 1000uf 35v caps in stock. They are like $1.69. Its easy enough to change out to be sure its not the cap.
