problem Charging a LPIO

Hi all.

I recently bought from a forum member 2 x 7.4v 1800mah 2 cell LIPO's. They are Zippy Flightmaxes. When I got them, I soldered deans onto them.

I tonight plugged in my trackpower v balance to my swallow and charged the 1st battery no probs. Then I plugged in the second battery and the charger says "no battery".

At first I thought I may have a broken solder joint, so I put my multimeter on the deans and Im getting over 8v (iirc), it was a while ago.

Now does anyone know where I should be looking? Or what the cause is and how to fix.

For the record the balancer goes through the normal motions without showing any signs of a problem.

Any help appreciated..

You say the balancer looks normal, but I am not sure about that balancer, so I would check the cell voltage thru the balance port on the battery. If your total pack voltage is good, but one cell is showing bad thru the balance port then it likely has a bad spot on the board. Otherwise I could only think its a poor connection somewhere.

If balancer is not showing a prob, then it has to be the Deans you soldered on, one or both is not making a quality joint, enough so that the charger is not seeing it connected via the main power leads.

If you are using the Checkpoint balancer, check the fuse. I had the same issue with that balancer and it turned out I blew the fuse.

Hi all, RE-soldered the deans today and took some readings with a multimeter.

Deans Plug - 7.7volts
Balance tap - Red and Black - 7.69volts
Balance Tap - White and Black - 3.84volts...

Any ideas?

Cheers

BTW, Im not much of a battery person..
