Cogging problem

Hello - I previously posted this on another forum, but thought I'd get further advice here!

I have just bought and used a Speed Passion v3 10.5 motor, that I am using with my Novak GTB, however I have been having some problems with cogging.

It was fine for a couple of races, where I was using a gearing of about 7.2, which is fine for the track I race at. However, I then moved to a 7.8 gearing (again, fine for the track), and it began cogging badly.

I thought that this may have been due to the gearing, so changed it back, but then it was cogging with the original gearing also. I then used a difference sensor wire, and it still cogged badly.

The next weeks racing, I used the same gearing, and it was fine again for a couple of races, but then changing to 7.8 caused cogging.

The reason why I am using a Speed Passion motor is because the original Novak died with a broken rod, and so thought a quicker motor will do nicely!

Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be, and how it can be sorted?

Thanks in advance, Chris

PS - I have tried both NiMH and LiPos and the problem stayed.

Make sure all of the motor wires have a solid connection. Maybe you have one hanging on by just a tiny bit of solder. I had a similar thing happen on my first brushless set up where it used bullet plugs from the motor to the speedo. After spreading the prongs on the plugs a bit to make a tighter connection, the cogging was gone. Might be something else entirely, but no one else has suggested anything, so it's something to check anyway.
