Hitec 7955 or 7950

Have a question. Other than the torque it looks as if these two servos are the same? Speed is .15 at 6 volts, res. looks to be the same. Am I missing something?

Thanks

One is "rated" by Hitec to handle 2S Lipo directly, but we all know that the 7955 is beast as well and can handle it with no issues, but yes @ 6v you are correct they are almost the same servo.

IMO its just up to you which one you want at this point. One saves you money they both are beast and one has even more speed and torque @ 7.4v (7950).

Really up to you.:tire: Either way you won't be disappointed with your purchase. :batman:

Bill,
I am running 7950 for throttle and steering in my Hyper and have not had a issue. I like them more than the last servos i used. I personally would not recommend the 7940 if you are thinking of going that way.

Is this the famous Travis from Hotrod Bobbies? Yes I already went through the pains of the 7940. One of them went in the first round at the Thunder Alley JBRL race. I will be selling them as soon as I get them back from Hitec. Very disappointed in the servo.

Thanks

Yeah my buddy had the 7940 and he burned one out I personally run the 7955for awhile with no issues they are the best servos and customer service takes of you

what car are you driving to be going through the 7940's so fast? i bought me a 7940 and a 7950 both 3 days after they were released and have not had a problem with either one yet. i ran the in my mbx6 for about 3 months and have been running them in my xray 808 ever since then. i love the servos. oh and i have been running them on direct lipo as well from day one

I run the 7940's in my 8ight 2.0 with no problems - yet.

has amnyone tried the sanwa HVS-ZS servos. Ratings look great and they are about 25% cheaper than the 7940

The 7940 has a flaw that Hitec will fix. for the price, it should have the problem, but atleast they will take care of the problem for you.

I would recommend the 7955, as i have had 2 for 2 years, both on straight lipo with no problems.

skoalisbad4me 04-22-2010 06:36 PM

bigedmond, what is the flaw that the 7940 has?

I saw this thread soon after I ordered a 7950 and 7940 servo, so once it showed up I called HiTec and asked about the "issue" and I think they said the first run of 7940s made had one gear that was brass that was changed to steel. He said if it was new and bought from somewhere that wouldn't have it on a shelf for a year, I should have a newer one.

LOVE both servos by the way. Running LiPo and can't believe the performance!

The brass gear was the problem in the ones i had. That's great news if the issue has been resolved.

I lost one in a losi on the steering, and one on my new Mugen on the throutle. My friend lost one on the steering and throutle on a losi. I am glad you are having such good luck with the servos. I resently talk to a Hitec rep that had told me that even Adam Drake was having throble with the 7940 he switched to the 7950 and has had no problem sense switching. My e servos had nothing to do with the gears they both had motors go out on them. My friend had one that was a motor issue and the other could be a gear problem. PS I had 5955 servos in my losi for over 6 months with no issues even runningwith Lipos. Put the 7940 servos in and lost both within probable two months. I am not saying Hitec is junk, as that's all I run in my qiant scale imac planes love them.
