Outlandish(?) Features on Radios?
Hey guys, I've got a KO PROPO EX-1 UR, and it's got a bunch of features on it, here's the list straight from the site:
Steering Functions: Travel / Balance / Speed (1~2Way) / Curve / Center Trim / Sub Trim / Trim Rate / Reverse / Steering Monitor / Quick Steering Throttle Functions: High Point / Brake / Curve / Punch / Speed (1~3Way) / Acceleration / Active Brake System (ABS) / Preset / Automatic Start / Sub Trim / Trim Rate / Reverse / Thorttle Monitor / Quick Throttle Timer Functions: Lap Timer / Down Timer / Alarm / Pre-alarm / Lap Navigation / Stop Watch Others: Auto Display / Idle Up / Position Display / Direct Set / Electrim / Digital Grip Dial / Battery Alarm / LCD Contrast / LCD Back Light / 30 Model Memory / Model Name / Model Select / Model Copy / Memory Recall / Memory Restore / Memory Reset / Channel Select (for use of channel 4) / Beeper Pitch Shift / Adjust Volume / Set Up / EEP ROM <3CH> 3CH Monitor / Configuration of 3CH <4CH> 4CH Monitor / Configuration of 4CH My question is, how many people actually use all these, and if you do, what are the pros/cons of doing it? I kinda think I've overdoing it with this radio when all I really use is the EPA feature so I don't yank my carb out of my XB8..:p I'd love to be able to get the most out of my radio, but am slightly unsure of how to do it. |
My Nomadio Sensor has just about all those features. It also can be connected to the computer to adjust all settings and model memory functions. It has a speaker and a vibration motor (you can custom map vibration sequences and upload custom sounds to alert you to different events) and it also has a headphone jack (WTF?)
Like you I barely use anything besides EPA, trim, and the multiple model memories. I am interested in playing around with the ABS function though, that I could see being beneficial once you figure out how to tune it. |
On my 4PK I use EPA, EXP, trims and memories. I have played with the ABS functions but since it is banned when racing here I don't use it. I've set the light colours (!!??) and vibration patterns :ha:
I occasionally use the servo speed adjustment to slow down some of my faster servos. I've never used the lap time functions on any radio I have owned with it on. Seems pointless to me when I have a transponder. To me, the useful functions are EPA, EXP (especially for braking), trims, dual rates and model memory. Also number of channels! I bought the 4PK simply because I wanted to move from Spektrum to Futaba and I need 4 channels. Plus I couldn't say no to a multicoloured bar on the top :sneaky: |

OK cool, just making sure I wasnt the only one that didn't take full advantage of everything that the radio has to offer.

Idle up is a great feature that I use on my nitro cars, it helps prevent stalls when the engine is not yet up to temp. Just dial it in a little at a time initially so you don't idle up and start at WOT. Curve and punch will help you control the car off the line.
