charging question
 
i have a hyperion EOS 0606i charger that i am charging a 4500 4 cell and a 5400 4 cell lipos. the charger will only charge at 3.22 amps on both packs whether i have a balancer plugged in or not. it works fine but i would like it to charge at 4.5 and 5.4 amps for 1c charges because it takes like 77 min for my 5400 to charge up after a race. i just want it to chartge at 1c so it is done in under an hour.

I am afraid that you have reached the maximum output of that charger. It is only a 50 Watt charger. Watts divided by battery voltage gives you your maximum charge rate ( 50 / 14.8 = 3.378). That's why you're stuck at 3.22 (The math is not always exact.).

The voltage is varying as the lipo charges so the charger may continue to reduce charge current to stay under its 50watt limit. There should be some current variation as the voltage increases thru the charge. This is what a 50watt charger does that allows them to advertise it will charge 6S lipos. It will to, just takes a while.

The voltage was 50/3.22 = 15.53v when you saw the 3.22a charge rate.


You'll need a 100watt charger to charge at full 1C charge rates with a 4S lipo.
