Nimh battery dead?
 

I have a Venom Nimh 3600 battery that will no longer take a charge. Can it be reset or recharged, or is it a goner?

I own two of the same batteries and the second one is just fine.

If you can't get any response from it - try 5amps for maybe 1 min. Be careful, do this outside and put pack in a towel so if it vents, the towel will catch it.

If that doesn't shock into taking some charge, its time for a new pack. Venoms are generic Chinese cells and some packs are better than others, some last longer than others.

Try charging it anyways at c/10 for 15 hrs.

I'm having the same problems with 2 of mine. They are less than 6 months old. I wont buy a venom again

I only have a dynamite Prophet Plus so could only use a 4amp charge. It did put some amount of charge in the battery in question, but not more than a couple minutes of 50% power and it was dead again.

However, I am looking to upgrade to lipo anyway. I've read a ton of posts on the "best" charger. Got any opinions? I'm not a racer, but I wouldn't mind having a charger that is ac/dc, handles most of the lipo cells, and has a built in balancer.

Nothing personal, but I will not buy another Venom battery until there is proof that their product delivers reasonable results. I've owned this battery for less than a year, and only ran it maybe a couple times a month. In other words, it's been properly taken care of and charged, yet it's only yielded about 20 runs. I think I paid $35 for it new at my LHS. That's $1.75 per 7 minute run. Not what I would call a good deal.

There's a reason Venom's are cheaper than most other cells and its not cause they're better. Venom's prob seems to be how long it takes to get the cells to the customers. It seems to take them too long and NiMh cells don't like just sitting on the shelf. Sometimes they recover, sometimes they can be made to recover, sometimes they don't ever recover.

The Tenergy pacs I bought for my Emaxx were no diff. I'd never buy from them again. I buy PromatchRacing pacs and have not been disappointed.
