Digital servo clicking
 

i just bought a hitec 7955 digital high torque titanium gear and when i plugged it in it was making clicking noises i was talking to a couple of pros at the silver state in las vegas last weekend and they said most digital servos do this and that sound is the servo trying to always center itself. is this true and will it do any harm to the servo like burn it up?

I run Hitec servos as well and I dont recall any clicking noise. when is it making these noises

Clicking means its just ACHING for you to flip that trigger...no worries and never doubt what the Pro's say...be happy you have some around you to give advice.

it makes the noise as soon as i turn it on and keeps going sometimes there is a pause and then it does it again

depending what pro it was you could have had them look it over to make sure there wasnts binding. sounds like its not set up correctly. what car is it?

Digital servos usually make a clicking sound at neutral. Just make sure your EPAs and spring tension is adjusted correctly and you won't burn anything up.

Don't worry about it... digital servos usually make that clicking sound. make sure your servo saver is dialed, your transmitter is set up correctly and everything is freed up just right. Plug it in and enjoy the precision they offer. I've used Hitec, JR, Futabas and Vortex digital servos and some make more noise than others but never had a problem from any of them

If you turn the car on and its making a "chattering" noise, that is the servo trying to find its neutral point, completely normal for digital servos.You can play with the trim a little bit and find the sweet spot so that the servo will not do it, but that will throw off your end points and you will have to readjust them.Best way to solve that is take the servo horn off once you get the "chattering" sound resolved and then reset it to the neutral point.But, you will have to realign things a little bit.

If its doing it while your pulling the trigger or turning, then your end points are way off and need to be backed down, that would be the servo straining and it wont be long before it burns up.

That is your servo trying to find it's centre point and if you are saying its a brand new servo you need to send it back for replacement .

its the deadband that is the problem as its to narrow and when it tries to centre it skips the zone because of the centrifigul force on its return.it's a simple fix for hitec its a digital low that they will program not a high widening the deadband and its done .this usually happens in mass production runs some do get missed.
But if you leave it as the gears start to wear the problem will get worse and thats when you will have the bigger headache .

it will not burn your servo out .

so just return it and get a replacement.;):nod:

I have a brand-new 7955TG installed on a Kyosho DRX chassis. Power is supplied from a 6.6V 1800mah 2s LiFe pack by way of a Futaba 4PLS 4-Channel 2.4GHz S-FHSS Receiver.

There is no servo horn installed so there is no load being placed on the servo whatsoever and it is still making this very loud and erratic clicking noise at idle.

id more describe it as a buzzing noise, however that is normal. as stated, its the servo constantly trying to get perfectly centered.
