Default What size Hakko Iron?

So in the market for a new iron and I'm thinking of going for the best Hakko 936. My question is they have 3 different size irons (small, medium, large) which one would be the best for rc? Now I really don't use a iron that much except for deans and motor wires so should I spend the extra money for the hakko or is there a cheaper route?

A few weeks ago I finally upgraded. I have been using the weller 40w for years. I got the 40w hakko and man what a difference! It gets hot a lot faster, stays hot better, and gets hotter period. I was pretty good at soldering, but now that I have a better iron, it makes it a lot easier and quicker.

The 936 Hakko station I bought from Amain did not have options as far as iron sizes, but it came with the 908 large size iron.

I rarely use the small tip, almost always the medium. The large tip is almost a necessityfor soldering battery packs, but since NiMH is almost a dead tech now you should be fine with only the med tip. I'd look for a 60-80W iron. 40 will get the job done, but just barely at times.
The Hakko and Weller (and other brands) stations with the adjustable temp are sooo handy. You can turn the temp down and leave them on all day and they'll heat up immediately when you need them.

Yep, you want the large 908 wand, model 936-13. Most RC soldering tasks need a relatively large mass tip. And there are a lot of tips available, you can always get a smaller tip for circuit board/servo wires/receiver wire/etc, combined with the adjustable temp then you are set. The different tips are like $6. Easier to go down than up I think.

Thanks for the help everyone...I like the Madell ebay one that was posted, but just worried about buying a 936 clone. I mean Hakko must be good if everyone wants to copy it. So I think I'm going for the 936-13 large iron Hakko of course and not worry every about having to replace it. I guess in rc if you buy cheap 9 times outta 10 your gonna be replacing it anyways. So might as well spend the money right the first time.

I got a Madell SD-06 which is even better than the Hakko 936 but it costs less. I got mine on ebay from the same seller linked above. They are out of stock right now though.

May also want to consider the Team Checkpoint iron. It is just a re-branded Hakko 936, but comes with 2 tips (Chisel, & Pencil)

anyone know if they make a 220v/240v hakko 936-13? living in australia (240v) it seems my only option is to get the 110v and get a transformer for another 50 bucks.
is the larger iron worth it? i can get the hakko 936 with medium iron 240v off ebay for a lot cheaper than it would cost me to get the 936-13 + shipping + transformer.
