need econo ESC solution
What would be a good econo (<$50) ESC to run my HPI Brama with a 27 T brushed motor and 6-7 cells? I am setting it up for my nephew but don't want to let him have my brushed Slash ESC...
thanks Jesse |

now that you mention it, I have two older ones - do you guys rebuild them? They seem to have lost reverse... Still work forward, but can't seem to get them to back up? Any ideas on how to fix that? or could I send em in for a repair like other ESC companies?
thanks Jesse |

I always liked Novak Brushed ESCs, they are definitely worth looking into. But if for some reason that does not work out for you, you can check out Ebay. Many good deals on brushed ESCs there. Or any of the Duratrax Intellispeed series are good low cost options. If you find something you really want but it is out of your price range, and you consider spending more, be careful as for not much more you can have a decent brushless system that will last for years instead of runs. A few common mis-conceptions are that brushless is expensive and that it is way more powerful. For right around $70 you could pick up a EZRun brushless that would be similar power and speed as stock, but it will last for many years if treated properly.

cool, thanks guys. since this is for my 11 yr old nephew, I want to let him do the upgrading - if the car lasts long enough. I will look into the options suggested, they are a big help!!
