Hi, just been upgrading my hyper pro uk as im planning on racing this summer. Next on the list is a decent radio. I found that the spektrum DX3 (the older one ) is quite cheap now. What I wanted to know was, what is the quality like ? Are they Any good? I purchased an Acoms Technisport 2.4 last year and that thing sucked !!! quality was terrible.
Im using some savox digital servos if that helps.

The older DX3 is a bit out of it's league against the top end radios of today. What is your price range and we can try to help give you some recommendations for your price range.

yeah it does look a little dated. Well I was looking to spend around £160 I have the money im just trying to save as much as possible because im currently doing a degree lol. whats the DX3S like ? whats the major diff between that and the DX3R is the quality the same ? I was looking at some Futaba 3PK's on ebay they look good.

The difference between the DX3R and the DX3S are the following:

- DX3S has telemetry
- DX3R is DSM2 and DX3S is only DSM
- DX3R has a three position 3rd channel, DX3S only has a two position.
- DX3R has 30 Model Memory and DX3S has 10 Model Memory

Thats what I can think off the top of my head. If you are willing to spend the money I would go for a DX3R. The DX3S is a good radio though too. The Futaba radios are awesome two.

One reason I mainly run the DX3R is you can run 7.4v straight through the receiver.

Thanks for the great info! is DSM2 far better than standard DSM? how noticeable is it? Can I run a transponder with DX3S ? sorry for all the questions lol

sorry forgot to add can I purchase a DSM2 receiver for it later on ?

FYI:

Newer versions of the DX3S are DSM2. All the spektrum receivers are good on a 1s lipo. Not all servos are good on the extra voltage.

Correct me if I am wrong but can't you run 7.4v through the SR3300T receiver that comes with the DX3S as long as the servos can handle the voltage?
