checking individual lipo cells with voltmeter
I have the align style balance taps and deans plugs on my 2s lipos. I was wondering how to check each the 2 cells separately with my volt meter.

Its not diff - on the back of the balance conn, you can see metal part of the wire going into the connector. Touch two of these metal pieces that are side by side - thats one cell. I started on the side with the black wire. Move both test probes over by one wire and its the 2nd cell - you will use one of the places you touch again, but with diff prob.
If you get a neg voltage, you've got the polarity reversed, swap and it will show up correctly. I don't have a 2S, but I have a 3S Align lipo (heli) and it has 4 wires, so to read 3 cells, you have to reuse some of the wires in the conn. Experiment, you can't hurt the lipo as long as you don't let your probes contact each other and short a cell. |
I got tired of doing it with a dvm and bought one of these - provides total and each cell voltage by just plugging it into balance conn -

I was thinking of getting one of those. Anyplace in the states sell one? Just can't bring myself to buy straight from hk.

I got a blinky balancer from the LHS that has the digital readout. For under $40 I got both the voltage checker and balancer. Works slick but I can't find any links to the model with digital readout.

I'd rather buy from hk then integy.
Thought about going to radio shack and seeing if I could build one. Probably cost me 4x's as much but I like messing with things like that. |
Sorry, I don't like Integy either - here's another one thats bound to be better -
