Fail safe
 

I just switch from 2.4 ghz to fm. My question is do fail safes protect against someone on your frequency or just from power failurers or lost of signal.

i'm gonna say signal failure. when the receiver loses the transmitter signal the failsafe kicks in and stop the car.

I have a failsafe from my monster truck days. I just want some added protection while running fm. I just want to know will the fail safe kick in if some one turns on a radio with same frequency. I don't think it will because the failsafe can not tell the fdifference between one transmitter to another.

i really doubt it will kick in.

why did you switch back to fm?

Looking at the manual that came with my 3PK, it says "Failsafe - settings stored by the rcvr, used only if the rvcr fails to receive clean, intelligible signal from the transmitter".

Any disruption of the signal will activate the failsafe. If someone switches on a tx on your channel, the failsafe would activate.

with that being said my next question would be, are we talking about a stand alone fail safe or one that's built into a receiver?

One thats builtin. I don't use a separate FS and I'm still running FM.

The Futaba R113ip PCM rcvrs provide this functionality in my system. Would assume if its offered in another, its similar with all these systems being so competitive.

I didn't run nitro long with a separate FS before I got the 3PK. The Ofna FS I used did prevent the run aways I was having using an rtr AM radio system. I stopped using the Ofna FS when I got the 3PK. I'm not sure how that FS would respond, but would bet it would activate if someone switched onto the channel I was using.

Unless I'm thinking wrong, thats just another form of interference like the EM interference I was getting with AM running under the hi power trans lines in my backyard.

What does your TX manual say about failsafes?? Are you running a separate one too?

I've ran Spektrum Pro for about two years. It always felt good with no problems. During the holidays I decided to run some VRC races with my FM system. I've never used this radio on FM always spektrum. The difference was amazing; I now know what it means to feel connected to your car. The FM system seems faster and updates faster than the Spektrum pro. I switched back to the spektrum system and I was overall slower by .5-.7 seconds. I even ran the spektrum system on the fastest setting of the radio it was better but it still did not feel as good as the FM system in normal mode. I'm looking at the New Eurus radio but for now I thinking FM is in my future.

Hmmm, this says nothing can protect you if someone else is on your frequency...check below use a fail safe.

So, when someone switches on to the freq that you're on, is this not interference or is it something else?
