Hitec 7940
 

Hey
is anyone using this servo?
Does it hold up?
would it be fine as a 1/8th Buggy steering servo?

I've been using one on throttle in my buggy. LiPo direct, been perfect. I'm sure it would be good on steering too.

Adam Drake runs the 7940 on the throttle, and steering on his buggy.

think about it. he works for horizon hobby and doesnt even bother to use the JR servos. he uses hitec!

i actually just ordered 2 of the 7940's about 20 minutes ago! :D

I run them on the throttle in both the buggy and truggy and the 7950 on the steering. This is a great combo. I like a fast throttle servo. I have been using them for 4-5 race days now without any issues whatsoever.

have you sent off that 7955 that kris burnt up for you?

i wonder how that happened.
i think i am just going to pick up a 7940 for throttle on my truck and leave the 7955 for steering. as i already run it on lipo... so far my little 3305 has been a champ in three different cars on lipo! :lol:

But why do you recommend the 7950 for steering?
The 7940 should have enough torque and is faster.

Some people tend to think that .06 is overkill for speed in a steering servo thats why they recomend the 7950..

I personally would run a 7940 in steering and only use the 7950 in a Truggy. 486oz of Torque in a buggy is overkill not .06 transit speed. :lol:

But of course its not going to hurt it and would work just fine either way.. Really just up to you. :nod:

You won't be disappointed with either one of those servos. I run the Hitec and the JR HV line and love them both and I personally have yet to have an issue with either line.

Torque is more important than speed on steering. Not so much for the intial turn (although that is important) but holding power when you are trying to turn and you catch a bump or rut. A "just strong enough" servo will have to work too hard on steering. Too much power is just enough! (Especially on truggies... but helpful on buggies too!)

The post you linked had a guy stating that Drake was having DNF's due to Hitec servo's that he was using. :lol::confused:

Then the next post has a guy stating he has nothing but great success with Hitec in everything from RC Cars to Planes. Next post the guy claiming the DNF's from Drake running Hitec's states he hasn't used Hitec's in years and will try them once agian on his next build. :lol::lol: Classic.

Don't listen to it. I haven't seen any news of Drake or anyone for that matter using Hitec's having a DNF from servo failure. These are the best of the best and the customer service is there as well incase you do have issues. Ask anyone Hitec customer service is top notch they will even go out of there way to help you even if you don't have a receipt! Now thats bad ass! :nod:

Just had one go out on the servo. Yes I had the EPA set correct according to the losi extra installation sheets provided. I had 5955 servo's installed in the car for over 6 months with no problems. I will be taking the servo down this week to get it repaired will let you know what I find out. Love the servo though fast etc just a little concerned with the reliability of the servo's. I am sure its something simple all equipment has issues. i have had servo's out of the box that did not work.

7950 servos are pleeeenty fast enough , especially unregulated.

I am not bs'n , there is a good reason why I recommend 7950 over 7940.

Either way , hitec servos are great as well as the customer service.

7940 is an awesome 1/10th servo

well i would´nt race it on 7,4v.
i use 6v nimh receiver batt.
