Was looking for some input on Lipo chargers. I hear so many different stories on them that it has confused me more. I know you need to balance them but I see many people use external after market balancers, and it seems that not all of the chargers that come with internal balancers do the same thing. Can you guys help me sort this out? Every manufactured just makes claims instead of making what is going on with this clear. And do you guys have suggestions on what is the best and what is junk. Thanks for the help!

I use both types, internal and external balancing.

Depends on your needs, a simple charger like this: http://www.valuehobby.com/product_de...13&item_id=110 may be all you will ever need.

It's AC/DC and will charge/balance up to 6S packs, 15 cell NiMH or 20V SLA.

BTW: this has all the same functions as the Losi, Thunder Power and other more expensive chargers.

i use this for charging and balancing it comes with balancer.. cheap and pretty handy.fast shipping..comes with storage mode which is pretty handy specially when you dont knw what voltage is left in your battery. it will discharge it to the right voltage for storage..

for just charging i used onyx 230 and the orion advantage charger which i had for along time just updated to do lipo...

a charger with 5amp capacity is good enough.

I got one of those for my birthday and it's been great. It comes with so many accessories, you wont have trouble charging or balancing pretty much anything. The only extra part you would need is something like the following pic to charge/balance lipos w/ the built in bullet plugs (but w/ a deans connector instead of Tamiya):

very cool charger, and charges just about everything - you do need an external balancer, like the checkpoint balancer, but works pretty sweet

Thanks for the heads up K bojar. A few of guys used them at Family this year but a couple of them failed near the end of the season. Something to think about though. Thanks

I use TURNIGY Accucell-6. Great charger for the price.

You can also send in the GFX 35 and get it uptdate for LiPO.
(You'll still need an external balancer IIRC though)
