Hyperion Lipo Help!!
 

I just purchased a hyperion CX G3 4s 5000mah 25c battery. Yesterday I went to install my deans connector and did the usual procedure. Both ends were exposed and accidentally touched causes a couple small sparks. So I left it and continued today. I got the negative wire solder and shrink wrapped to the deans just fine. Then I went to solder the positive wire and when it touched the deans connector it sparked again. I have never had this issue before, what is happening :cry:

bad connector maybe? shorted inside somehow? did you over heat the connector when soldering? it should not spark at all if you soldering to just one connector that's not plugged into anything else, something is wrong try a new connector

You're shorting it somehow........don't get sparks unless the neg and pos are crossed. Check and make sure you didn't somehow get solder across both terminals.

Never work with both ends exposed. Just too many things can go wrong and cause a short. I leave the HS protector on one end until I have the other end soldered, Only then do I remove it and work with it.

I find Deans easier if you'll do the positive 1st - it goes on top and its inside so to speak on females. Then the black is easy. The other way around, its toughter getting the pos in when the neg is already there.

after re-soldering a new connector I came to realize that I was using a male connector :weird: It shorted again and actually burned up the other side of the connector. It wasn't getting that hot so Im not sure why it kept shorting out. Anyway so now that I remember to use a female connector it should be fine. I'm still making some rookie mistakes...
