Lipo quits at 18volts
I think this means my lipos is done but I just wanted to check anyways. I have an Elite 30c 5s 4500mah battery that dies when it hits 18v. It usually takes about 3200mah to re charge it. Does this mean its dying on me? How long can you store a battery at full charge? A week?

Yeah it use to take around 4200 mah. I run it in my car and notive it would start to die like the cut off was kicking in. But the run time was down by alot. Everytime it does that I take the battery and plug it in the charger and it tells me its at 18v.

Ok I put it on the discharger which is setup to discharge till a cell hits 3.2v. I have one cell at 3.2 while the others are at 3.75v. Should I set it to 3 and see if I can get the pack to balance on the charge?

Sounds like you've got a cell going bad. I'd try charging at half normal rate (2amps) while balancing and see if the low cell comes back up. I'm guessing the others will go to 4.2v like they should, but this weak cell won't. See how much diff there is. Then maybe discharge it at low rate. Low rates helps equalize voltage between cells. Did the weak cell improve (less diff)?
If you see any improvement then try a few more times. If it stays the same or stops improving, its prob not going to get any better. The impac of this cell will pull the pack down. The voltage drop in the weak cell will be lower than others so you'll have to watch it to prevent it from going below the 2.7-3v minimum and possibly puffing.

when the pack stops working check the voltage with a volt meter "before" putting it on a charger

Thanks for all the help guys. I really need to buy a voltmeter. Its weird because when I charge the battery, every cell is at 4.20v, but when I discharge it, on cell drops to 3.2 and the rest are at 3.75.

What you'e seeing is part of the lipo media in that cell is no longer "participating" with the rest of the media in that cell. There is enough left that it appears to charge normally but when a load is put on it, there isn't enough current generating going on to support the voltage and teh voltage dives.
If you have the equip, you can salvage the 4 good cells and make a 4S out of it, but its messy and potentially toxic dealing with the zinc based materials you need to solder with.

Thanks for all your help guys, I think I ll keep it as is and when it completely lets go I m going to get Hyperion G3 VX batteries.
