Need advice on most suitable solder for this purpose. Just ordered some with 305c melting point not sure of make up. Any advice welcome.
Rob A minimum of 450F melting point on a 10 turn brushed. |
Motor commutators, I am giving up some of my old secrets with this one: Kester Aquabond paste or solid solder. Use no clean flux, the paste if you are lucky to find doesn’t need flux. With the paste you you will need a small butane torch, with solid you will need a 70 watt plus iron. Kester aquabond has a melting point of 495F |

Never wearing out is a stretch, but you can make them last a long time. The plating is going to react to the solder and O2 in the air, just at a slower rate. Keeping the tip clean, tinned, and at reasonable temps slows down the process. |
One should not ever drag solder either. |
Not sure it's posted in this thread, but in a pinch you can make soldering iron tops from solid copper wire. You can make custom shapes and what not. They work great.

Soldering the ESC to the motor without touching the wire?
Hello all,
How do I solder the ESC wires to the motor without touching the iron to the wire? There does not appear to be enough room under the 3 platforms to place the soldering iron. Specifically I will be soldering to this motor. Thanks. |
