You need a higher discharge rating if that happened.

Sucks to hear that you puffed one.

Lipo are better overall, just a little more care is needed in their use.

And your welcome MB.

Lipo exells in everything except one thing wich is price but if I keep burning up these nimhs it'll be cheaper now to pick a charger what do you recommend my budget is 70 bucks

Unless you want to go with one of those cheap Chinese knockoffs... you will not get one that cheap that also balances. Which means you will need a separate balancer, and those run close to $20 or more last I checked.

If you want new, and good quality with a balancer you will need to spend closer to $100, The Duratrax 235 is a good one, its the one I have and it works great. I would recommend that one from my experience with it.

$90 plus shipping new.

The Duratrax Ice has went down in price a great deal, it is one of those chargers with discharge and motor break in and options out the rear. Pretty advanced features, most you would never use, but it is an old design without a balancer built in. They haven't updated it to a new model yet, and they may never, but the old model is around $70 now, (half its price a year or two ago) and then you would need a balancer.

I was looking at this dynamite charger any good?
Dynamite Passport AC / DC LIPO CHARGER 6S

Basic but it would work... you can get better for just a little more.

This one seems to be perfect for me

Those are both knockoff types... and the second one needs a separate power supply.

Warranty will be spotty if something happens.

Duratrax offers a 5 year warranty.

cs3087 05-30-2012 12:31 PM

Guess I'm getting a duratrax ice with a separate balancer

TCCustoms 05-30-2012 03:17 PM

i have the 245 from Duratrax and love it other than not being able to discharge or store charge but if you just want a single spot charger the 235 is the same as 245 but its single and 245 is a double. Plus its both AC and DC

marine6680 05-31-2012 04:37 PM

Yeah the Ice is overkill really... brushed motors and NiMh batteries are getting used less and less in the hobby. So breaking in a racing brushed motor and discharging NiMh batteries to refresh them is not really something you need to worry about.

If all you want is a good Lipo charger the 235 will serve you very well, and the 245 will allow you to charge two at once, but it costs a lot more. They both have built in balancers.
