Default Hitec HS5645MG reversed out of box?

Hi everyone,

I just got myself a brand new HS5645MG servo, took it out of the pack, plugged it in and it seems to be have been wired up in reverse.

To fix this, is it as simple as just switching the positive and negative pins or is there more to it?

It's not really a problem, I just set my receiver on reverse for that model but just curious.

Thanks!

did you have another hitec before? if not just reverse it from the transmitter should be fine.

Yea, I've got another 5645MG and when I plugged that one in it worked like normal.

The wiring sequence on both servos are the same so I m guessing the new one has been reveresed somewhere inside.

I wouldn’t try switching the positive and negative wires from the receiver. You can reverse the wires to a motor, but I don’t think the servo circuitry would much like it. You would need to reverse the leads on the potentiometer inside the servo.

You are correct.

Motors are analog so switching the pos and neg work without issue.

However servos have circuitry to demodulate the pulse width modulation signals on their signal wire. The pos and neg here feed that circuitry which are IC chips, resistors, diodes, caps, etc. If you reverse the input polarity, you will release the magic smoke (aka it will fry.)

Sounds like its time to send it back to Hitec. They've got good customer service.

Gah!

It should be fine on reverse.

I m in Australia and I think it'll be too much hassle to send it back...
