ESC/Reciever problem
Over the past couple weeks I have been racing, my SC10 will act like it was turned off only to start going again 5-10 secs later. It usually happens when I come out of a corner. I am running a Spektrum DX3.0 radio and Hobbywing 60A ESC with 13.5 brushless motor. It doesn't do it every race, but it will do it at least once a race day. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a smaller Hobbywing that does this sometimes. Its usually when I run a fast motor, and it always seems to happen coming out of the same corner on my track. It acts like the LVC is kicking in, then a few seconds later I can continue racing. I know its not the LVC, because you have to reset the ESC once it stops, it will not go again until you turn it off then back on again.
I suspect it may be some kind of protection, but they only list LVC and Temp. protection. I am a temp freak so I know its not that, and I run high quality Lipos that I do not think are dipping into low voltage. This leads me to think it is hitting a current peak that shuts it down momentarily. Acceleration while exiting a corner definitely causes spikes in current, and mine only does it while using the fastst motors, in my heaviest car, and when exiting the same corner. I also thought about maybe it was a failsafe mode, in case of loss of signal. But since it never happens with other systems or the same system in different setups, doesnt happen if I stand on that side of the track, and happens with other radios, I think I have that eliminated. |
Thanks for the insight. I don't think that its excessive heat as well since its only at 150 after a 7 min main. I am using a Maxamps 5000mah battery that I believe is rated at 20c (it only says HV on it) or an Orion 3200mah battery. I believe its happened with both batteries, but I'm not positive. I will monitor it more next time I'm out and gain more data on the problem.

My slash did the same thing with my brushless and dx3.0, I solved the problem by puting a capasitor( i think is what its called) made by spectrum, its because your voltage will drop and shut the truck off for 5-10 sec., this thing keeps a charge in it so it will not do that anymore, i think it was like $6.00, so its worth a shot, it cured my problem, good luck
