Question on some radios
I am looking at buying a new radio soon, well maybe used if I can find a good one but im getting lost and cant decide most cause I dont know much about a couple radios. The m8 or m11 with the spektrum modules, looking at those cause after seeing the price of $80 for a airtronics rx and knowing I can get spektrum rx's used for around $50(sold a few of em myself) thats sounds better. I had my sights set on the mx3 2.4 but the rx prices are a killer, think futabas are about the same. I had a couple dx3.0's but I wanted one tx with more model memory so sold those.
Price is a little bit of an issue need to stay in lower $200 range or lower then that is better lol. So whats the difference in those 2 radios? Still worth getting? How about the mx3 one is that bad like im reading? I dont race just play around so I know the m11 is probaly over kill but I like it  |
All I do is race and my M11 is overkill for me  But it's a nice radio. For messing around, I would see if you can find an M8. Still overkill, but you should be able to find them for super cheap; even with the Spektrum module.
The newest MX-3 FG is a pretty nice radio. I'm assuming that the range or something was an issue as they upped the transmitting power or something on the newer ones. Another radio to maybe consider is the Spektrum DX3S. It runs around $250 at most and comes with two receivers and has just about all the bells and whistles. However, I've noticed that quality seems to be an issue with at least the 3S (haven't had problems with my 3R yet). Theres at least one service bulletin out concerning the selector wheel and I've heard of other things breaking as well. Even guys I race with have had problems with their 3Rs, like the trigger spring breaking, the selector wheel breaking or just flat out DOA. |
Thanks for that. Do you know what the differences are from the m8 to m11? I just have always like the style of the m radios, reminds of the old xl2p/cs2p radios lol.

It's been so long since I've had an M8 that I couldn't tell you exactly, but I'm pretty sure that the ABS and traction control is not available on the M8. The M11 also has a timer with more features and it's 4-channel rather than 3-channel. Basically, it has alot of extra "gee-whiz" stuff. Which is the whole reason I got one in the first place.
My first "good" radio was the XL2P. And I bought that one because it had that badass control panel with all the pots. Been a fan of Airtronics ever since. |
Looking over the 3s and it seems nice, I to have heard of people breaking some selector switch wonder if their gonna fix that?
Also same price range is the m11 fhss any thoughts? |
