Default Can a JR Z9100S/T be powered with unregulated LiPo?

I've been told yes, but I can't find any documentation from JR saying so. I've searched and only find information on the High Voltage JR servos. Does anybody positively know if Z9100S and Z9100T servos can be powered with an unregulated 2 cell LiPo receiver battery?

According to JR, No they cannot. I asked the same ? and that was the answer I got directly from them.
You will probably get others who say they have and not had any problems.

That is why they came out with the new HV ones.

Thanks, I had a feeling it was a bunch of guys just running LiPo because the servo has an external heat sink. One guy told me that JR actually marketed them as LiPo compatible but stopped when they launched the HV series.

I always regulate mine. for $20 you can help prevent a $100 failure and i doubt jr would warranty if they could identify it was failure from running unregulated

I asked at my LHS and they said they used to be marketed as LiPo friendly. I've been using a regulator anyway because I only had a 9100t in the steering position and a cheap JR servo in throttle. Now I have a 9100s in the throttle position. I'll just leave the regulator in place.

It would have been cool to think that my servos would be making massive power at 7.4 volts. ...but it isn't like they aren't already bad ass servos at 6 volts.

Use a regulator. Without one they will eventually burn up.
