How exact do you need? Many so called '12v' bench supplies are actually about 13.6~13.8v. Same as a '12v' auto battery, they really aren't 12v either.

Most 12v PS's are actually over 12v....the above is 11-15v.

My Rad Shack 25a and ProPeak 20a are both 13.8v output. The 32a supply that All E RC has started selling is adjustable -http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=4742

Its a little pricey though.

The Checkpoint that Racer posted looks to be the deal if you need a particular voltage.

I’m also curious why 14v?

I'm guessing but I'm thinking he has a charger that recommends higher input voltage than the more common "12v." I think Hyperion recommends more voltage depending on what your charging, don't they? Just guessing on why he mentioned the 14v.

Dave H - somehow, thats not surprising......still more than I care to invest in a PS. I guess if those were built here, they'd be close to 3 bills??

As far as this charger input voltage question, I just looked at the range allowed by Hyp 0610i and it runs 12 to 28volts. I've seen some plane guys stressing about how warm their chargers were getting and they were looking to move to higher voltage PS as a way to help drop temps since it would drop input amps. As for OP, I wonder if he just read something in charger manual and hasn't realized most rc oriented supplies are not 12v but 13.8 which is pretty close to 14v, but thats just a guess as well.

Alinco is the way to go, small and solid built. I have been using it for about 10 years now, no problem at all.

I would pick Alinco over Mighty Fine Junk (MFJ) anyday :nod:
