Is that the coaxial type that comes with the 3R? If it is I would guess that Horizon is going to give you the big "send it in so we can make some more money because we don't want you to do it yourself". I don't know if they still have this policy but they wouldn't let you fix the antena on the radios yourself, they wanted you to send it in:mad:.

i believe he is talking about the fine little wire coming out the top of the reciever. Not the controller. Mines broken on my sr300, i emailed spektrum from the link above earlier this morning... will let you know what happens

I know he's talking about the receiver antena. My point was that they wouldn't sell you a replacement antena for their radios, which is a simple fix. If they won't do that they're not going to tell you to go ahead and solder a new antena on a receiver board.

Glad to see that option.........2 years ago you had to send your radio in if the antena broke, which was crap in my opinion.

its not coaxial type, thats the weird part. looks like a cheapos FM anthenna wire which need soldering jobs. i did email them last week but nothing happen since then.

Finally searched for the receiver your talking about:blush: If you can solder without wrecking it i would do it myself. Any wire the same length and gauge will work. I know that the sr3000's only need 3.5 inches of antena to work, range is SLIGHTLY less though. I can't say for sure if you need the full length antena with that receiver.

nazwenhome 08-30-2009 09:44 PM

if so, i better try my receivers range :) my antenna wire is about 5+inches from case. thanks for the info.

I think 5 inches should be plenty but like I said I don't know the specs on that receiver so......I seen guys run big 1/8 scale tracks with the antena coiled like a snake and glued to the top of the receiver (sr3000) and not have a problem.

nazwenhome 08-31-2009 10:01 AM

tried on track with a buggy, no range problem for a mid size track :) what a relief

thats how i used to install this antenna with just few inches sticking out of my shell. flipped over and the antenna rubber tip cant hold that amount of friction. i learn my lesson here, extend it fully or shorten it below the shell

My antenna is missing out of my sr3000. where is it attached? Does it solder to J2 on the top board, directly under the exit hole? any pics of your install? My rx works, just range is only 30' or so.

Help!!!

Bradir, try to open your rx. You'll see the how it was attached and i think you can buy replacement antenna from online rc shops. I've had serious range issues before. Now solved after buying a new antenna. Just be really careful with your rx when doing this action.

RonF 09-19-2009 12:07 PM

I did open it up, but thats why i asked if it was J2 on the board. Since that is directly under the exit hole on top of the case. But i did not see any solder, broken or otherwise on the board...
