Good Mid-Range Charger
 

Anyone have any recommendations on a "universal" charger that is affordable? Im looking for a charger that can charge NiCads, NiMH and LiPO's.

My budget is around the $100 - $200 dollar range.

I have used and is satisfied with the Imax B5, Imax B6 and Turnigy Accucell-6. All these are below $100 including the power supply.

i dont really know much about venom chargers, but i have been looking at the pro charger from them. I will charge NiCD, NiMH packs with 1-15 cells, has 6 different charging plugs TRA, TAM, Alligator Clip, Futaba, Glow Igniter and JST

Also will charge 1 to 6 cell LiPO and LilON/LIFE Battery Packs

Plus you can get it AC/DC.

Any thoughts?

Good charger, charges a variety of cells (NiCd, NiMh, Lipo, A123, Pb, etc).

Charges via the balance leads (a little different from most chargers).

Requires various adapters for various balance leads (extra $$$ -- but if you time it right, they have special email offers where sometimes the adapters are free).

Maximum of 50 watts charging, and/or 4 amps, whichever is lower (so, for 6000 mah packs, for instance, it will take longer). Can charge up to 4S.

Needs a 5 amp power supply.

To upgrade firmware (and basically to unleash more fine-tuning of charging presets), you need the USB to Serial thing (extra $$$ again).

Very happy with mine. Even factoring all the extras (adapters, USB, Power supply) should come out to under $150...

You can never go wrong with the good old Super Brain 977. Will do NiCD, NiMH, Lead Acid, Gel Cell, LiPo and Li-Ion. And it doesn't need a separate power supply. $99.99 at overdriverc.com

i like the iCharger 106B Plus. depending on what batteries you have, you may need more wattage. 1C on a 2S 6000mah battery is 6 amps and 50.4 Watts. also, some chargers cant handle 6 amps. this one is 250W/10amps.

If you're charging lipos that are higher cell counts than 2S, any 50watt charger will limit charging current for higher cell count lipos to stay below the 50watt charger output limit. This one has 100watts and its AC/DC -

imax b6 all the way. accucell is good too, built in small little fan :)

I really like my Hyperion EOS0606i. Great charger for the price IMO.
