I think the Hyperion duo eos 615i looks like it would be a great choice. Where can I buy one and how much?

shaggy11 07-17-2009 05:57 AM

I love my 977 and I tested the voltage up against my balancer and they came out exactly the same. One cell was 4.09 and the other was 4.15 every time i charge.

Only one pack at a time though.

Yes only one pack at a time and it doesn't look like it does anything more than the Hyperion. I do know that the turbo 35's are popular among racers though.

I just thought I would throw it out there simply because you said price didn't matter..;) IMO they are way over priced for what they are.
Back in the day a Turbo Matcher was the cats ass for cycling and matching cells but with lipos that's old news.

Brushless and lipos are the best thing to happen to R/C in the last 20 years!

Thats a huge imbalance- 60mv!! My hyperion 0610i - they usually come off at 4.200 and 4.200. I've not seen any more than .003 diff (3mv). The charger's balance spec is 3 -5mv.

You're very lucky you have one that makes the error on the low side and better hope it stays on the low side. I hope you're using a lipo sack......

I thought about it, but its too outdated and way overpriced in todays lipo world. I had chance to buy one last week - like new c0onditioon, no lipo capability and just let it go.

thats great that yours comes off like that but you have to remember that your charger is a balancing charger and i use a stand alone balancer after I charge it so it ends up being good

Well i use a muchmore silent charger (not ac/dc) but i love how it charges and u can get adapters like cell balancer to attach and other attachments like charging deans, taymia, or bare wires so i would not trade it well id trade it for an ac/dc one but i love my much more and there are a ton of other muchmore equipment like a lcd discharger, tire warmer, motor cooler, battery warmer (niham, lipo)

What happens if you have a cell go over 4.2v but your pack's still under 8.4v???? Good luck.

At least the error is on the safe side, but you are not getting a full charge of 4.2 per. Given the way lipos charge I suspect you are giving up quite a bit of run time. Are you then balancing the 4.15 cell down to match the 4.09? How long does that take? Weird that you get a .06 imbalance everytime, something doesn't seem right.

shaggy11 07-18-2009 05:42 PM

well could it be the battery cause its a pretty well used orion 3200

racer1812 07-18-2009 07:12 PM

Shaggy I don't like the fact that your useing that charger and that's my opinion but have you tried balancing it BEFORE you charge it? And what is the voltage on each cell after it's charged then? I'm not sure but it might be safer to balance it first, with enough charge in it to bring one cell down, and then charge it.

shaggy11 07-18-2009 08:48 PM

when i balance it first the cells come out at 4.12 and 4.15 and there is always one cell that comes out at 4.15 so it is cutting off. ok so since it is cutting off early do you thing i could watch the cell voltage and just charge it twice cause my balancer displays the volage of each cell while its charging.
