Lipo help

Hey guys I finally got back my Venom Pro charger or Really a new one from Venom. My old one was reading 2s lipos as 6s. Now I started to charge my Tekin 3400 Mah 23+c batts. One batt charged for 59 mins and got 2532MAh
and the other Batt charged for 43 mins and got 1689 mah .... Now can any1 tell me why they are not charging fully? Why they dont get the full 3400 mah???
I have a SMC Lighting 5000mah and it got 4585 mah. So What am I doing wrong or what has happend??

Any info will be great thank you

If these are new and you haven't used them yet, they are delivered with a partial charge. Did you run them and discharge them? If not, you just have 2 lipos that have diff charge levels.

Run them, prob don't need to take them to the voltage cutoff, then see what re-charging looks like.

BTW, unless you take 100% out of them capacity wise they should not take 3400mah anyway. If you routinely take 80+% of batt capacity out every time you use them, they will not last as long as ones that are not treated that way.

The business of lipos taking 100% or greater were on lipos that were seriously under rated. There seems to be less and less underrating going on.

Bumping this from the past for a question....

So if this is happening after they have been charged and discharged a few times, is there a problem, or is this normal?

Example, my 2000mah 2s lipo I normally Balance Charge at 1.5Amps. Battery Voltage is always aroung 8.4 volts, but it normally charges around 1500mah everytime I am done charging it. My Bantam BC6 keeps track of Mah the charger puts in the battery. So is this normal?

If I were to take it to cutoff voltage, would it charge closer to the 2000Mah? Is that recommended or no?

In the above example if he was taking all those lipos to the same voltage cutoff, the diff numbers would imply there was a prob - poss just normal aging. Capacity falls as lipos get old.

Your 2000mah 2S taking 1500mah on re-charge is just about perfect. Lipo does not like or tolerate deep discharges - defined as more than 80% of capacity so discharging more than 1600mah would not be in the interest of long lipo life. This is how you should set your lvc - so when it activates and you recharge, you don't put more than 80% of capacity back in on charge.

You could discharge it deeper, but you could also have it puff unexpectedly after several cycles from the stress of doing that too. You should never discharge a lipo below ~3v/cell (6v for a 2S).

Awesome! Thanks!
