Servo recommendations for different applications

What servo strength (oz-in) and speed (.xx/60 degrees) are recommended for the following applications? (steering, not throttle)

1. 1/8th buggy
2. 1/8th truggy (RC8Te, Xray XT8, etc)
3. monster trucks (E-Maxx, Flux, Revos, etc)

Next, are servos "all the same", and by that, I mean, I see servos having the same size, but Futaba, for instance, calls so-and-so servo "Air Servo" (i.e., they use it for the ailrons of bigger r/c planes, for example) -- are those still ok for monster truck use?

Finally, if I get a servo that is stronger than what you recommend above, does that make the servo "last longer" (it was having an easier time doing steering duties, so the servo would not be stressed)?

Thanks!

You might get more views under the offroad section. I use all jr z9100s&t servos. buggy&truggy use the 9100t and s on throttle. a lot of guys are using hitec 79XX and having good results and can be found for about $100. motto is buy once and never again. both 9100t&s have 3 year warranty and hitec 79XX have same. hope that helps

aircraft servos have longer range radius. if you set your epas they can be used i believe.

might try the search at the to to get the results you are looking for.

speed for racing in buggy does a lot. the torque is aimed for truggy etc...but also helps with buggy sometimes also. i would look at steering at least 200+oz of torque. on throttle about 100oz

The hyperion atlas servos seem to be good value.

Other than that (depending how much $$$ you want to spend) I have read many times of people using ACE, Hitec, Savox and a few other brands and have been recomended a lot and are top servos... even if they are on the very exxy side of things...
