Charging at less then 1C?

I just bought a Reedy 5000mah 35C lipo and a Equinox balancer. My question is can I charge at less then 1C, because the balancer only allows up to a 3amp charge rate. I know you're not suppose to trickle charge the batteries but I was wondering if it would be okay to charge at say 2.5amps.

I know you don't really need to balance the packs right away but it would make me feel better if I did.

Thanks,
Erik

Okay good. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna destroy $140. :)

You can buy the high current adapter that lets you charge at up to 6amps with the Equinox if you want to -

On that note, is it actually better for the battery to charge at lower than 1C? It used to be good to charge at C/10 (1/10th) for 12-14 hours... but that was for NiMH/NiCd.

(I remember that it was better for battery longevity, and to "balance" or "equalize" the cells, but it lacked "punch"... something not that important when purely bashing).

Yeah I saw on the instructions you could buy an adapter to charge at a higher rate but I don't like that is has to charge through those little wires.

I'm also curious about what Alfa said? Is it better to charge at a lower rate? I mean my pack can charge at 2C but I don't ever plan on charging it at that high of a rate.

it won't help the batt any by charging it at a lower rate...
