If you are running a nitro car and want to power your radio gear with a LiPo, be careful! A 2-cell 7.4v Lipo could burn up your receiver and servo if it is not made for it! You might need a voltage regulator to bring the volts down to the common 6v most radio equipment requires.

If you are running a 1/10th scale electric and your ESC can handle the voltage of your LiPo, the internal BEC will be fine. When it comes to 1/8th scale electric as in your case, it really depends on the brand of ESC you are running and if it uses a separate battery to power the electronics or if it runs through the ESC itself. If it requires a separate pack, and you want to run LiPo, you may need a voltage regulator as well.
