Using/Buying the right charger??

I want to purchase a charger that can charge all my batteries. Or most of them.
I have:
2- 1500mah hump packs. nicad
2- 1500mah flat packs. nicad
2- 3300mah nicad packs.
2- Lipos for my Blade 400 Helicopter
2- Lipos for my Blade CX2.
1- 12v gel sell for my starter box
2- Glowplug ingniter

I've been to my local hobby shop and everyone I talk to likes a different charger. I understand everyone has preferences but shouldn't there be the top 3 they all like??

Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

Eddy

This will charge all that you have outlined and will balance charge the lipos as well. Its an AC/DC charger so you'll not need a power supply -

The igniter will need an adapter available from place like Tower Hobbies or others.

Hyperion makes nice stuff. Most hobby shops don't carry them so they don't recommend them, which is sad. I wish I would have gotten my 610i sooner.:D

All you RC Guru's and only 1 reply to this thread??
I'm disappointed. I thought lots of you guys would have suggestions to the best charger to charge allllll!:tire:

Different definitions of best: Do you want a small/portable DC only unit, or is AC power important? How important is cost, what do you consider reasonable? Do you plan on getting into a 1/8 scale electric beast, or anything else significantly bigger than what you already have in the future? Want to charge more than 1 at a time? What about high rate discharge capability for the 3300 nicads? (I wouldn’t worry myself, once you start with lipos I suspect those will soon go bye bye)

Hyperion is a very solid choice best I can tell, with the possible exception of high rate nicad discharge. (I don’t know of any balance charger that does high rate) Seem to be solid quality, have backlighted displays which is nice, built in balancer (safer, and charges lipos quicker), available enough places, they update them, have a nice selection of models, some of the more powerful and flexible models, and appear to be supported if there is an issue.

Or one of the new Triton EQ jobs, the existing Tritons seem to have a good rep too. A couple of my buds have tried the new ones and so far so good.

A good charger would be the Onyx 230, but it would need a balancer.
A good charger with a balancer built in would be any Hyperion.

Nobody replied because after the Hyperion suggestion there isn't anything better to offer..:D...just kidding

The Onyx does not do lead acid (gel cell).

If you are considering Hyperion you should also look at Bantam.

They have excellent build quality, no updates needed, and a wide selection of DC balance chargers as well as AC/DC balance chargers.

They are also about to release the BC8-DP charger that is AC/DC and will do up to 8s lipos. 120watts on AC power! 180watts on DC!

Bantam will not be the cheapest for a reason.
