Futaba receiver question
Whats the difference between the fasst R603FF and the R603FS. I have a FF in my buggy and keep having radio problems due to the heat. It shut off on me(instead of going into fail-safe), and launched wide open into a group of ppl standing at pit lane. My brother has the FS in the same buggy and has never had a problem. I've changed every other bit of electronics on this thing, so I know its the receiver. I've drilled holes in the receiver box and that didn't help. I just don't know what else to do. Futaba pretty much told me they won't do anything without a receipt. Any suggestions?

Diff
The difference between FS and FF is FS has internal antena and gold connectors, both work with any Futaba Fasst system. This is the only thing I can come up with, sorry not much help.
|
FS is a diversity antenna meaning there are 2 diff antennas where as the FF is a single tuning one...
oh and $20... :) |
Some guys that've had this prob run the rx so its standing on its side rather than lying flat - little more surface area to cool. This prob is due to a chip in rx overheating from what I've read. Maybe it can cool better on its side that flat on its back. Its apparently worked for others based on feedback I've read here and on other forums.
Futaba's attitude has been pretty disappointing. |
r603ff heat issue then comes up the r603fs(orange module/receiver , honestly i really take my time to choose which is the best radio for me ,im after the m11,ko propo ,but i want to try the futaba HRS,so 4 mons. of practicing, racing i dont have heat issue on this 3pks fasst r603fs

Called up futaba today(again) and they claim that they have never had any complaints about receivers overheating. I know this is a flat out lie, I've talked to many ppl who say they have the same problem, including their own factory drivers. I am never giving them my business again, not with the attitude they have. I'll be switching to Airtronics(FM) this week.

That's what I was referring to earlier - they pretend like if they don't acknowledge that a prob exists, all the probs will just disappear. I'd have upgraded to a 4PK by now, but their attitude is such a turn-off, I'm no longer in the market for one. You have to wonder what else is there that we don't know about?? |
I thought the FF did not have the built in fail safe and the FS did.

Only other diff that hasn't been mentioned besides DAD (dual antenna diversity) and the fail safe, is the FS auto detects the tx mode (HRS or PPM) and switches if needed so you don't have to do anmything.
|
Accually, the FF does have a fail safe, you just have to remember to set it every time you run.

I have just recently switched to Futaba 3PK 2.4 system. I have 603fs receivers in my vehicles and have been very happy so far.
No heat issues running the receivers in sealed receiver boxes with latex foam in the bottom for protection. I did notice that one instruction sheet recommends foam for protection the another sheet recommends against it claiming the foam will insulate the heat. A bit of a contradiction, I will keep the foam in until I have a reason to remove it. The fail safe mode is good I have been changing all my servos over to digital to take advantage of HRS mode and the fail safe. |
Any ony now diference R604FS and R604FS-E
I think R604FS dont work good in EP. |
3pm question
hey,
i am currently running a 3pm 2.4ghz with a R603FF, and Ive run it in my slash with great success, no overheating problems but now need another one, so will a R603FS work on the 3pm too? Also because the slash has such a tiny radio box (since it only houses the reciever) does anybody think i'll have overheating problems? I reckon i should cut some plastic out the reciever casing as they are easy to open up. Cheers. |
