need help with deciding on esc and motor
Well I'll be a owner of a Yokomo MR-4TC SSD in about a week or so. Next on my list of things to get would be a esc and motor. From what I've seen it looks like I'm down to Novak SLYDR or CC Mamba Max. I know the mamba can be changed around for different types of racing which is a nice feature and has a nice wide arrangement of motors to choose from. I hear nothing but great things about Novak products and I like the slydr since it's built for drifting only, downside is I'm stuck with 6.5 7.5 and 8.5 motors. What do you guys think I should do? What other choices would I have? Im strictly going brushless so pls no brushed sets.

~Minimum Brake (10 settings from 0-27%) ~Drag Brake (10 settings from 0-27%) ~Dead Band (5 settings from 2-6%) ~Minimum Drive (5 settings from 1-5%) ~Throttle Curve (Linear and Expo) ~Brake Frequency* (7 settings from 1-8 kHz) ~Reverse* ~Motor Rotation* ~Li-Po Cut-Off |
That doesn't really help with my topic at all, you're just trying to make a sale off of me.

You can run ANY sensored motor with a Slyder so your not that limited. I don't like sensorless stuff myself. Sensored stuff lets you run slower motors too if you need or want to slowest motor Castle makes is like a 4600kv which is about a 8.5-10.5 I think. I run all Novak stuff. I don't mind Castle but I run 13.5 and 17.5 stuff and you can't with Castle. You can program Castle to run slower but if you race it most likley won't be legal.

I'm looking for a more of an aggressive drift system that comes close to Nitro without the heavy maintenance. Do you know what I mean?
|
I'm not a drifter, seen it a little but not my thing. The cogging with a sensorless system is minimal but not sure it would be the best in a drift car.
Think a Slyder will handle down to a 5.5 motor, which is big power, |
ah so the lower the turns the more power? well then the 6.5 combo should do well for me.
|
Dude.. a 6.5 turn motor would be 1000X overkill for drifting.
|
The only problem with the mamba max will be all the cogging at low speeds. Check out the new LRP drift system too.

THE SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR DRIFTERS If you have additional questions, let me know. We offer 3 motors (6.5, 7.5 or 8.5) with the systems. The difference between the Drift motors and our standard Velociti motors is the rotor: Novak'sDrift-Spec Brushless Motor includes a 13mm Neodymium Sintered rotor, which has a slightly larger diameter and improved magnetic material. The rotor can withstand a higher temperature threshold, improving its durability. It also increases the natural drag brake and opens up the motor’s gearing window to improve drivability.... |
