any ESC's that are fully programable w/o a computer?

Just curious...

any 1/10th ESC's that you can adjust at the track w/o a laptop to tune it? I was thinking of picking up a cheap Eee 2G used to toss in my toolbox, but seems overkill to just play with settings.....

I think just about all of them can. The LRPs, the Tekin RS'.... they are programable right on the front of the ESC. I don't know if you have the ability to FINE tune as much... but I know you can set most of the settings using the interface on the front of the ESC itself.

the tekin has most of the features available without a PC, but the motor timing, boost, and sensored/dual mode, are only available by using the hotwire.

The Losi Xcelorin is pretty good. There's a programming card that you plug into the receiver wire that lets you adjust everything using jumpers (cut-off voltage, braking, drag brake, motor timing, and throttle limit) except the acceleration and braking curves.

Worth a look.

I saw that option for the 1/8th buggies, but is it the same for the 1/10th?

The SP ESCs have a very nice setting card!

Yep, and it's standard, not an option. It's a great setup, makes everything easy to set, fits in the toolbox no problem. Much better than blinkity lights or dragging a laptop around, especially at a dusty off road track.

Speed control itself is cool too, does just about everything, sensored, sensorless, or hybrid of the 2. Adjustable timing, adjustable punch, yada yada.

Novak's SLYDR and soon-to-be-shipped Havoc 3S have full, on-board programming needing no external computer or card:

Nine adjustable parameters:

Minimum Brake (10 settings from 3-50%),
Drag Brake (10 settings from 3-50%),
Dead Band (5 settings from 2-6%),
Minimum Drive (5 settings from 2-12%),
Throttle Curve (Linear, Expo-1 and Expo-2),
Brake Frequency (7 settings from 1-8 kHz),
Reverse,
Motor Rotation
Li-Po Cut-Off

Well, I just picked up a used Eee for 125$ shipped, so will install XP on that, and then my Losi software. And when I get my 13.5T combo, whatever brand that might be the software for it too.....

I bet I might make a few friends with one of these at the track...
