Spektrum Range issues
 

I have a new DX3 radio and can't solve my range problem. I can barely go 20-30 yards before I lose response. I have tried using both receivers that came with the radio. I have tried 20C, 30C lipos, a GTB that is spread spectrum optimized. Installed the glitch buster capacitor. Literaly tried a different everything. Even the cars, from TC4 rtr, TC4 FT, B44.. I have used 2-3 layers of servo tape under receiver while moving as far away from ESc as possible, still no acceptable range. As I type this I am on hold with the technical dept for the last 38 minutes. Thought some of you guys may be a little more helpful. I want to run over it with my SUV and go buy a Futaba as at least that name was dominant when I last raced 17 years ago. I have spent way too much over the last two months to have not enjoyed a glitch free lap. Can anyone help that may have had a similar experience?

I know a few guys were getting glitching but that was due to the receiver being to close to a nitro motor (probably could call it a design flaw in the chassis) so they moved their receivers to their transponder mounts and have eliminated the problem, this also happened with futaba radios aswell. You wouldn't have that problem as you say it's electric so is your antenna running through any carbon fibre or plastic containing a lot of carbon or is it running un-protected near or parralel to any motor or esc wires?

But in saying that when i bought my DX3.0 one of my receivers would intermittently go into the set fail safe mode, i tried binding them again and again and again, tried a whole different bunch of receiver packs, all fully charged and it would still happen. Some times i wouldn't even get out of the pits some times it would happen halfway around the track and yes it's very frustrating:flaming: I race with my LHS owner so i gave it to him that night at the track and had it diagnosed and replaced within a week. They said there was a problem with it remembering that it was binded, what that means i have no idea but i got a new receiver for my troubles and have not had a problem since:D

What did their tech dept. have to say?

Thank you for your help...They had an option to leave my number, so I am waiting for a call back. I think that I may just have a couple bad receivers. Find the odds hard to believe, but I had even bound another new radio to the car at the LHS and still no range. It used to only happen with the throttle, therefore thought it was the esc. So I replaced with a GTB spread spectrum job. Lately, I get a complete lack of response at short range. As far as wiring, it is very clean with shortened motor wires. I actually routed the antenae in a way that it touches nothing but the tube. Definately frustrating.

DUDE I'm having the same problem with my new Pro RX! I ordered a new one and when it gets here I'm going to send my old (2 weeks old) one in for replacement. I almost got my car run over because I lost my signal. I guess that's my fualt for not setting up the failsafe with breaks, but I'm lucky I even got it to bind once!

I think there is more of a chance of 1 problem transmitter, over 2 identical problem receivers.

Try to borrow a DSM transmitter, bind it to your car and try it out.

Craziest thing, I went by hobbytown and tried another transmiter and receiver, same problem. Tried the newer DX3R and FINALLY, a working system! Aparantly the oiginal DSM systems would not work with either of my set ups. But the newer DSM2 found in the DX3R worked like a champ. It had everyone stumped. I don't understand how the original system would not work in two completely different cars. Frankly, don't care.. just happy to finally have a glitch free setup. Now for my driving....
