Team Checkpoint charger question?
Im thinking about buying the Team Check point Charger but is this charger a DC charger only. And if so i will have to buy a power source for it to run on AC.
Thanks |

Im not running Lipo's now and not for sure if i will in the Future unless i start racing a Slash and run Lipo's in it or run a lipo in my transmitter. But for right now im only using Nimh and Nicad's for my receiver pack, starter box and my transmitter pack and glow ignitor. I have a Onyx 200 right now and i might want to upgrade the only thing it does not do is charged is 8 cells like my transmitter and of course it will not discharge or cycle but im not sure if i need those features.

I've got a 1030 also. Only prob is it has no builtin balancer, so you'll need a separate balancer to do lipo with it (eventually). Not all lipos are the same quality as the Orions that rarely to never need balancing.
It will also only do up to 4S lipos which may or may not be a prob depending on what you're running. Other than that, its a great charger! I use a Hyperion 0610iNet for balance charging lipos to 6S. |
yea the orions are a great battery! ive charged them like 30 times, then put them on a trackpower ballancer and it stopped in like 5 seconds. I test them with a volt meter every once in a while to. I guess if you not trying to charge any thing higher then 3 cells, the 1030 is awsome!
yes you will need a PS. You can get them from radio shack or the LHS |
If you need a DC power supply Just pick up or find a used Computer Power supply. Ground the small green wire and presto you have a 12V Power supply. I also loaded the 5V line (red) with a 5 Ohm Resistor to bring up the 12V voltage to 12.8V DC from the 11.98V with out
