DX2.0, possible cheap rechargable solution.
 

Hey guys, I had a thought this evening while trying to figure out what to do for rechargeable batteries for my Spektrum DX2.0. I checked out the Dynamite kit, and it was a little overpriced, and not so good from what I've heard.

So, I was at Walmart and found 4 packs of AA rechargeable NiMHs for $14 (CAD) and I bought two. Now, what I'm thinking is that I could set up my charger (Onyx 240) to charge up all 8 cells in their holder that came with the transmitter.

Any thoughts?

that's what alot of people do. Many radios have a charge jack built in for this very reason.

I just use my standard charger, clip alligator plugs on each end of the battery tray in the transmitter, set to .5~1a and they are charged within an hour or two usually depending if I discharge them first... Can do all 8 at once...

Update: I made an adapter for my charger (Onyx 230) and I've got them charging now. It's set for 8 cells, 0.5a charge rate, and 2450mAh capacity.

Nothing's on fire, yet.

I use a couple of different brands of rechargeable AA's. Never had an issue charging all 8 at once with my Pitbull Charger, at .9 amps with .036v total cutoff. I've had the same set of Energizer 2500's ever since they came out about 3+ years ago.

I run the Pitbull off of a Pyramid 25 amp power supply with adjustable voltage. I just make sure the voltage is right around 14-15 volts, which is similar to a real car battery with the engine running.

Another brand I've been using is called Lenmar, which I picked up at Fry's in Sacramento a couple years ago... They are still very alive and kicking too. A set of 4, 2000's lasted over 7 hours in my Dx3r.

i use the battery holder from the spektrum dx2.0 and i use alligator plus and i attach it to each end of the pos and neg.It has to metal nipples or whatever sticking out and just attach it to those and yeah should charge.
