hey, im runnnig a 1600nimh reciever pack in my truggy, what is a good charge and discharge rate, and is it necessary to discharge it?

You wanna charge it at 1.6A. Before you charge it up, it is a good idea to discharge it completely first. That will lessen the "memory effect". To get the charge rate, you take the capacity (in this case, 1600) and divide it by 1000. The result is 1.6.

I would discharge it at .5 amp. There no point in going too crazy because the wires are pretty light duty and the battery, under normal conditions, doesn't see that kind of draw.

Soem time ago, a batt guru from Trinity talked about rx pacs and according to him, you don't want to chanreg them at more than 1amp. Yes, you can charge them at their 1C charge rate (capacity/1000), but you are training them so to speak to dump rather than power the electronics for a long period at modest amp draws. You'll get better pac life charging at the lower rate as well.

I don't discharge mine every time, I average every 3rd or 4th time. I use 0.5amp as a discharge rate as well.
